At Autvex, our primary allegiance is to you, the reader and consumer. Buying a vehicle is one of the most significant financial decisions you can make, and we believe you deserve access to honest, rigorous, and completely unbiased information. This document outlines the strict ethical standards and guidelines that our editorial team follows every single day.
1. Editorial Independence
Autvex maintains a strict firewall between our editorial operations and our advertising/business departments. Advertisers, automakers, and PR agencies have absolutely no influence over our editorial content, vehicle ratings, or opinions.
- We do not accept payment in exchange for positive reviews or favorable news coverage.
- Advertisers are not permitted to preview, approve, or edit articles before publication.
- Sponsored content is strictly separated from editorial content and is always clearly labeled as “Sponsored” or “Advertisement.”
2. Vehicle Testing and Reviews
Our vehicle reviews are based on comprehensive, real-world testing by experienced automotive journalists. To provide these reviews, we often borrow test vehicles from automakers’ press fleets.
- Press Vehicles: When we review a vehicle provided by a manufacturer, we treat it as a loan. The provision of a vehicle does not guarantee a review, nor does it guarantee a positive review. If a vehicle underperforms, we will report it.
- Travel and Events: Automakers frequently host press trips to introduce new vehicles. While we may attend these events, Autvex pays for its own travel and lodging expenses whenever logistically possible to maintain complete independence. If an automaker covers specific logistical costs, it does not impact our verdict on the vehicle.
3. Fact-Checking and Accuracy
We are committed to delivering accurate, verified information. Our writers and editors cross-reference specifications, pricing, and claims made by manufacturers before publishing.
When reporting on industry rumors or unverified leaks (such as spy shots), we clearly label the information as speculation or unconfirmed, ensuring readers can distinguish between established facts and industry chatter.
4. Corrections Policy
Despite our best efforts, errors occasionally happen. When a factual error is identified in a published article, we act swiftly to correct the record.
- We will update the article with the correct information immediately.
- We will append a clear “Correction” note at the bottom (or top, if it alters the fundamental premise of the article) explaining what was changed and when.
5. Conflicts of Interest
Our editorial staff must avoid any conflicts of interest that could compromise their journalistic integrity or the perception of Autvex’s independence.
- Editors and writers are prohibited from holding direct stock or financial interests in the automotive companies they cover.
- Staff members may not accept lavish gifts, favors, or compensation from automakers, PR firms, or dealerships. Items of nominal value (such as a branded pen or notebook at a press event) may be accepted, but anything of significant value must be declined, returned, or donated to charity.
6. Affiliate Links and Monetization
To support our journalism, Autvex may occasionally participate in affiliate marketing programs. This means we may earn a small commission if you click on a link and make a purchase (e.g., buying a car accessory on Amazon).
However, our product recommendations are driven entirely by editorial merit and independent testing. We only recommend products we genuinely believe in, and the inclusion of an affiliate link never dictates our editorial choices. All articles containing affiliate links include a clear disclosure statement.
7. Contact the Editor
We believe in accountability. If you believe we have fallen short of these ethical standards, or if you have spotted an error in our reporting, we want to hear from you.
